The company I work for purchased a 1987 Mazak VQC-15-40 CNC machining center about 6 months ago. It was upgraded by Creative Evolution CNC in 2003 (New operating software & servo motors). Unfortunately it took most of the 6 months to get the electrical & air hooked up. I did manage to power it up, but I have a "Hydraulic Fault. The hydraulic fluid tank is full.

My questions are as follows:

1. Do the hydraulic lines need to be purged to removed the air in them? If so, how is that done?
2. There is a valve toward the top left of the hydraulic unit that is currently open. Should it be closed? (See attached picture.)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
