Default Mori Seiki CV500 - How to write/change parameters? MSC-803 controller.

    Hi everyone,

I have a Mori Seiki CV 500 mill with pallet changer and automatic tool changer (25 tool holders)

I recently disconnected the cables for the motor turning the tool magazine and switched the power back on.
After this I get an alarm about lost Zero Point of the Magazine.

So now I have connected the cables back to the motor, and I try to follow a procedure on how to do the adjustment/calibration of the zero point.

I understand mostly of the procedure, but there is one step I have problems with.
I need to change a parameter in the PLC, but I am not able to set the new parameter.
I have logged in to the correct menu, and found the parameter I was looking for (#6440) and I need to set bit 2 = 1
But It does not get stored after I set it?
I have tried to do this in MDI mode, no difference.
I have tried to switch off all Write Protection, no difference.
I have tried to restart the controller after the change, no difference.
I have tried to switch the main power of the machine off and on after the change, no difference.

So, if anyone could help me out with this it would be of great help.

As I can understand from the procedure I need to change this parameter, so I can use the Handle (manual pulse generator) to turn the magazine during the calibration.

    Best regards,
    Kjetil from Norway

I actually spoke to DMG mori support phone for a few hours ago, and they sent me the full procedure on how to perform Zero Return Calibration on the Magazine axis.

It says I need to go into Field Adjustment Mode before I can change this parameter.
To get to the Field Adjustmen Mode I should hold SPINDLE STOP and FEED HOLD button for a few seconds, and then the FEED HOLD light diode will start blinking.
But I have tried this now several times the last hour, and it will not go into Field Adjustment Mode. The diode is not blinking.

    Hi Sengoku,

I managed to get the mori into field adjustment mode, by spindle stop and feed hold.
I just had to hit them many times randomly and together, and then it worked.

If you send me your email address I can send you the procedure I got from Mori Seiki (it is also attached here)

I doubt the magazine procedure will work for setting the z-axis. I have attached one for a CL series lathe with MSC-803 control. I might have a better copy but this should work.

What is the Mori lathe model you need the zero return procedure for z-axis?

I have a CV500 with MSC803 control. The machine has been out of service for 3 years. We've got it back up and running. The issue we have is that we cannot edit any programs. In GOP screen, when we go to unlock the Program key, the control says to put a password into parameter - parameter 58 has five blank entries.
We never had any password in play for the last 17 years - this is a new problem.
    Any thoughts?
We've tried all the easy number combinations, only response is "Wrong Password"

    mr_tetua,
we discovered the code to unlock program parameter - the code we used had to be put into #59 which unlocked the program edit function - it was an eight digit code.
We are back in service, fully functioning.
    Thank-you

    Hi Kjetil,
On our CV500, we have to change #6440, bit 3 to be able to use MPG for tool chain alignment.

I'm not sure these images will post properly - images are from cv500 tool magazine alignment document.
