I have a chance to purchase a Mazak VTC 16b with a Mazatrol M32B control very cheap and would like to know what the community opinion is on machine and control. The machine "makes good parts" but I'm obviously going to check spindle run-out, backlash, etc as much as possible before purchasing... is there anything specific to this machine or traveling column mills in general that I should check before buying? Does the M32B control allow DNC? Any information is welcome.
I would suggest that you check with the local Mazak / Mitsubishi team about the hardware and software support as the controller is quite old and most of the service parts are discontinued. (repairs option might be limited) However on the basis of performance m32 is excellent. dnc is an optional feature hence need to check if the option is enabled or not
