As a general rule is is best to use a 3 wire cable 2-2, 3-3, 5-7.
The rest jumpered out.
On DB25 4-5, 6-8-20.

Hello there!
The main goal is to establish connection between CNC machine "BROTHER TC 31A" and laptop.
I have managed to come to the point, when files sent from CNC to laptop are accepted and successfully saved, BUT sending files from laptop to CNC is to no avail.
I have been in this process of searching solution and applying many possible solutions for almost a week, but found no luck in achieving the CNC to laptop file delivery - machine always gives me error "7537 DR signal off". Maybe there is something I have missed? There must be something, because I do not believe that this issue is impossible to solve.., or should I?
There were people with similar problem, trying to solve it ~7 years ago:
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/mazak_..._cable_ok.html
And thanks to their knowledge, after resoldering pins at a RS232 cable ends using their given scheme I have managed to AT LEAST to send files from CNC to the laptop. Here is their scheme:
[DB9 - DB25]:
(RD) 2 - 2 (TD)
(TD) 3 - 3 (RD)
(DTR) 4 - 6 (DSR)
(SGND) 5 - 7 (SGND)
(DSR) 6 - 8 (CD)+20 (DTR)
(RTS) 7 - 5 (CTS)
(CTS) 8 - 4 (RTS)
[connection on DB9](CD) 1+(DTR) 4 - 8 (CD)+20 (DTR)[connection on DB25]
Now I've come to the point, where I need help from an expert from the outside. Do I have to solder pins slightly differently, than they are now?
Thanks for your help,
Artur Andrejev

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your help.
I will solder wires as you advice and let you know the results soon.
Hello BrotherTC31A Owners...
Do anybody use 4.axis (or rotary table) on BroTC31A ?
thanks
kiss
Al_The_Man, you were right, only 3 wire connection was needed. After connecting pins under scheme:
2-2, 3-3, 5-7, also on DB25: 4-5 and 6-8-20, IT WORKED!!! The file was sent also from laptop to CNC (at last! :] ).
The only thing which bothers me, is that after sending file to the machine, and accepting it to be saved (F0 button), after a time specified in User Parameters for "Responce monitoring time", I get an 7543 error - Timeover (COM).
Do I need to accept the file additionally in order for it to be saved, or is it some kind of issue? This is new machine for us and the management of Brother TC 31A differs from other machines we own, so maybe I am missing something.
I have included the pictures of file transfer progress in three steps.

SUCCESS!
I've managed to transfer and save the program into TC.
Solution:
When in the "Transferring" window mode, I should press the "Send" button on the software in the laptop, twice. Then program is successfully being saved into the Brother TC 31A machine.
Hi everybody,
I have a Brother TC 31A machine and the connecting cable between the board and the DB25 was damaged.
Can anyone send me wiring diagram please.
Thanks
