Default 257 C-AXIS OR LS MALFUNCTION

I have a Slant Turn 30 ATC with a Mazatrol T3 and I am getting an alarm that I can find no information on.

257 C-AXIS OR SHIFT LS MALFUNCTION

when I try to switch to the C Axis. When I switch it on it rotates the chuck, slows and stops then gives the alarm. I can see on the headstock that the proximity switch is activated so apparently it is indexing to the correct position. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hi!

I have exactly the same problem, I have a Quick turn 10N ATC with a Mazatrol T3.

    How did you solve it?

Last month, it make me exactly your trouble, i just open the gearbox, replace the gear and it's working for about a month but now i have the same trouble again.

I think it is the spindle encoder that does not index the c-axis or if the card inside the male spindle works

This morning it gave me the same problem again. If it was an encoder problem, would it work 2 or 3 days working good and suddenly redo the problem?

Like last week, I just open the gear box, put back manually the gear at the right place and it work good now, but I know then i didn't solve the cause of this, i just repair the consequence and it's just a question of time and it will make the same problem.
