Default Most stable versions of mastercam?

Hello, everytime artsoft upgrades the gui, the stability of the software takes a nosedive.
Can I please have your opinions on the most stable versions?
I have used V8,V9 and X5, all are very stable and hoping upgrade to a simlilar level of performance.

Given the price of the software I would expect quite an outcry if it wasn't stable and an almost instant fix for any problems that became apparent.I haven't seen any news of such things and draw my own conclusions.

There's plenty of issues out there that people talk about. It's typically a fraction of the users complaining about it and the other users that have issues suck it up because they don't feel like being critical of what they use.

let me say I think MC is a pretty decent mid-tier software and it does a lot of things well. Our MC programmers are mostly using 2020 on Dell Precision workstations with Quadro cards and see occasional crashes. We manufacture medium size molds and personally I feel MC reaches it's capabilities here then the crashes start happening and it's been like that every version. Docs still broken so we're using a 3rd part docs solution. IMO if you do prismatic part machining MC will eat it up and perform well for you, small to big, 3-5 axis. However, every mold shop I know of has stability issues and had them forever. Getting into large 3D projects with stock models, lots of roughing, lots of rest roughing, semi finishing and finishing with a plethora of cutters is where we're seeing crashing issues and cnc software isn't doing much about it. They seem more interested in new features than refining their which really makes life hard for a lot of shops.

i am making die cast molds and use 2020 daily. i have no complaints about the stability of mastercam. my practices are not new and i still use the same paths i have for decades. when i do notice a crash it will be something annoying like a menu not functioning or a mouse click not working right. i haven't had a good close the program and back to windows crash in a long time.

I forgot to mention the really big snafu for us was back in 2017(?), MC changed something in the file structure such that many older operations would red check. At first we thought no biggie but then found out that MC would not allow those paths to be posted!! This is a well documented bug (MC called it a caveat) and support had zero solutions for us. Moving forward, any legacy files that red checked had to be regenerated just to post them. The issue has gradually calmed down thankfully, only because we're using less and less of the legacy files. As for the docs, the problems we are experience is min max Z's being off so we resorted to a 3rd party doc solution.

The other problem we're having, and it's not a bug per se, is changing tool numbers seem to magically change some parameters. This should be a simple and quick task but for MC it really messes with our zen. Perhaps it's how we're using MC but all our MC programmers have 10-18 years experience and are very sharp so the latter probably isn't very likely.

    They are all stable.

Stability of your rig and its capability are the real questions.

Software gets more advanced every year and requires more from your computer. My issues with software crashes arise from a poorly built computer and/or a bad back-up power supply if you use one.

I am still upset when they changed the UI from V9 to X. Good by hotfingers.
I am back on 2021 programming 5 axis machines with no issues.
