I'm a new user for Mastercam 2019. I tried to engrave some letters and numbers but a message showed up on my screen saying it was invalid " Open chains are ignored. return to continue." as well as " No valid chains found. Please select closed chain(s) for contour." Please send instructions to help me solve this issue. Thank you.
I am guessing that the letters and numbers are composed of individual lines and curves.You need them to be joined as chains for each character.You might get away with a box selection process and the machine might then engrave each element in some order.It might take less time to analyse the area for broken chains and then join them.As a new user I would be on the phone to the people who sold me the program as the normal training package seems to have left some gaps.
did you draw the text or was it from a cad model
if it is the cad model then look to see if it is a true font single line there maybe extra lines that mastercam doesn't like for engraving
i also use contour instead of the engraving feature this seams to make a lot less moves just remember to put the cutter comp to off
