As a rule the old S.M. motors were universal series motor, and had a simple/crude variable resistance in the pedal for control.
A closer examination of the motor (brushes etc) should reveal the type.

I've got an old sewing machine motor that has not seen very much use, and is super clean. No photos, sorry. It is from a Singer machine, popular in the day, model nuber is unknown. It comes from the mid sixties and has the speed controller intact. My question is this, does anyone know what the motor ratings are, rpm, h.p. I know this information is minimal at best, but take a shot, I don't know anyone who has been able to even guess. HELP !!
