Limiting 4 Axis Simultaneous Z Axis Depth on Planar Finishing
Hi,
Does anyone know how to limit the Depth of the Z Axis cut on a 4 Axis Simultaneous Profile Planar Finishing Cut?
I have a number of Planar Finishing cuts where the Z Axis goes below the Center of the part (Z Negative) Center being Zero.
I must be on the outside of the model, but I am not sure if the cutter holder will hit the model during the cutting process.
Setting Clipping Planes does not limit the cut.
Making the cutter shorter in the cutter profile does not limit the cut.
Hope someone can enlighten me in being able to do this.
Regards,
Mauri.

I am not sure I completely understand you .
But I will tell you how I limit the cutter depth when I am finishing and want to control where and when the cutter can go into a pocket
If I was to be cutting a doughnut shape looking down through Z Axis I see the classic shape ...... I would make a plane in X and Y out past my part and then use trim with the doughnut as the cutter and trim away where I want the cutter to go past this plane and not trim away the parts I want to have the cutter stop at then select it all as the part
Sometimes I have lots of areas that need protecting ...... I also use it to save time and not have the cutter cut down into parts that are already finish
I have also used it in 4 axis rotary
