Machine Tool Shanks (Tapers)
Hey everyone. I just bought an expensive aggregate head for my CNC with an hsd 915 atc spindle. To my horror, I realized that it is the toothed scm version of of the iso30 toolholder. Will an iso30 scm toolholder work in a standard iso30 spindle?
Thank you. Troy.

Thanks for this, I have been there already. Unfortunately they have no reference for the scm version of the iso30 geometry.

Looks like they might work, but you'll need to try it and see. Depends where the teeth are in relation to the taper. I've never seen one in person, but looking at pics, it looks like the teeth are low enough.

Hey ger21. I've been thinking the same. The head unit is shipping at the moment so as soon as it gets here I will experiment and post the results.
Yeah those teeth on the scm/morbidelli holders look to be about the same thickness/depth as a standard iso30 holder.
While the teeth factor is my biggest fear, I am also concerned about pullstud compatibility and also the notch deadcenter of the taper.
I have drawn with a marker on my existing holder where the teeth and notch are on the scm version in case anyone else can offer some insight.
Thanks ger21.

Heres an image of the toolholder on the aggregate I ordered:

The notch doesn't matter, but the pullstud does. You need the correct pullstud.
Our Morbidelli uses HSK toolholders.

I think all pull studs have the same threads, but it's been 10+ years since I've used an ISO 30 machine. We used to get pull studs from Ghudo.
