    Default HAAS VF-1 Milling inaccuracies

    Hello to all
I have a HAAS VF-1 and its a great machine for what I do.
I am running into a problem in that I tried to mill out a square and a circle both with 1" sides and diameter out of a .125 aluminum plate..
I initially tried using a 1/8" inch flat endmill. When the job was done, I measured with two different digital calipers the resulting dimensions and found them to be off by 17 thous. So out of a theoretical 1000 thou (1 inch), I got 983 thous. This was consistant in both the circle and the square.
I then ran the same job with a 5/16 flat end mill to see what happens. This time, the actual measurement after milling was 1061 (over by 61 thous) and again consistent in both the circle and the square.
I am using Mastercam MC9 as a software and have attached images and screenshots as well as the files. I would be grateful if someone can help me figure this out?

    Thanks!
    Adel Tabsh

You have to check the actual tool diameter. They are not always the nominal size even when new.

i started to think that the spindle was wobbly but that did not explain the under values in the .125 bit
