Default Is CNC lithophane carving going out of style?

    Hi All,
I carve lithophanes with a CNC machine but I've been seeing makers out there showing their lithophanes created with 3-D printing. I personally don't think they are as good. It seems scale is an issue and they don't light up quite right. I have a light panel I use for lighting lithophanes and they don't work quite right with those 3-D printed types. Something about the material being too translucent.
    Any lithophane artists out there?

I am still creating them. Mostly 8x10s (6x8 carved) but I have made a few larger ones and some smaller ones including nightlights.

This one is 20x30 (17x27 carved).

    Attachment 365806

Corian (.32") for 8x12 or smaller and other solid surface (.477") for anything larger.

I light them with strip LEDs.

    Chuck
