Default Mach3 software issue with E-stop with CNC USB Card

    Attachment 434883

Hi All, So I just got one of these cards and a bunch of new DM542 drivers and now the steppers are moving great on Mach3. I am down to one problem. I don't have a physical E-stop button, but there is the red button in the software in Mach3 that I use. The button is working great to stop any running cutting program. The problem I have is that when I hit the E-stop it does not release the stepper motors. They are still locked in tight until I physically unplug the power supplies. Is there something I'm setting wrong someplace ??? Thanks Steven

    Hi,
no, that is correct, IF the drives are powered AND Enabled the steppers will be locked, or rather energized in position with rated holding torque.

If you wish the steppers to be free running then you will have to either de-power the drives or release the enable signal to them.
