So your CNC mill HAS been running?
What happened when it stopped?
What Motion Card are you using?
Mach 3 is licensed copy?
Are you using a PC or Laptop?
Do you have any electrical skills?
Did you build it?
Hi I need help with my mill running mach3 , is stopped and I can't get software to run motors ,I need someone to sort it out before I just remove the cnc and return it to manual mill , either I'll pay you to come sort or maybe you can help me online , but I'm just over it and sick off not been able to use my hm50 mill

no luck and kinda over it , will scrap the c nc stuff abd return mill to manual , and look at real cnc unit in the future
Sorry to hear about your hassles. Failures/faults can happen even on a "real" cnc
If you give the info Sterob asked for then i am sure we can help you get it going
i thought i did reply erick but can see it here

no purchased built and added better lead screws and a z drive
Hmmmm....I'm so new to CNC my umbilical cord is still attached...……….but.....when you write a short manually created G code program and load it to Mach 3 does Mach 3 accept it or do you get a stop at a certain point...……..indicating your code is invalid?
If the code loads, and the Mach 3 screen shows it running the program, at least that is step one OK.
If nothing happens to the motors or spindle etc, I think the control box is not functioning, as in it's not outputting a signal to any stepper.....check for loose or broken connections etc etc...…...never ending test procedure here.
If everything is dead the fault is right at the beginning.....somewhere along the line you must get a signal.
Can you compile G code.....a short simple program is all it takes to test the functions of the controller......you might have a situation like I had with the emergency stop button locked on or a short that makes it appear as an emergency stop.
What controller are you running...…….A Gecko is a Rolls Royce one but costly.
Don't give up.....at the very worst case scenario you can always install a new cheap controller without breaking out in a sweat.....one item is all it takes to make the system bad and I think it's at the very beginning of the circuitry......like a fuse etc......time for the multimeter if you have and know how to use one.

It does not sound like much is causing your problem.
Maybe a sticky limit switch?
I assume you cant jog any of the axes's
Any clues on the dianostic tab?
Do the DRO's change when you *try* to jog?
Dont give up.

disconnected limit switches from board

no but it was initially just the x axis and in my fittling none work now
Any clues on the dianostic tab?
diagnostic tab seems to indicate alll good
Do the DRO's change when you *try* to jog?
DRO moves so mach 3 thinks its driving motors
also motors are locked cant turn by hand so indicates they are powered up
thanks David
hello;
Is the machine still on the limit switch? Try disconnecting all power and manually turning the motor/axis to get off switch. Then repower and test. It's possible the axis switch stops all power to the machine, depending on how it was connected.
Good luck
It sounds like you are missing the Mach 3 'plugin' for your particular Motion Board.
You have to do this manually if you re-install mach 3.
You need to identify your Motion Board, find the plugin file ( usually a 'dll' file and copy it into your C;\mach3\plugins folder.
All your motor ports are enabled in Mach 3?
Motion board has power to it?
yes board it powered but why would the driver suddeny vanish unit was working fine until it hit limits , limit and mach3 have always been a pain on this setup seem there no way to move off them in mach 3 ?
ps i have usb board with drivers mackh3 but never instlled it becuse info suggested mach3 and usb dont get along , i do want to move away from un suported win xp \maybe linix is the answer ??
Hi, as far as I know......the limits are one directional which means if you hit a limit it stops all power to the stepper in that direction only but you still have power to go in reverse on the other stepper.
If a limit cuts all power both ways then it is a situation you cannot get out of and should not be...…..Mach3 should be able to back you out of a limit trip.
Perhaps you have a wiring problem in that quarter......or limit switches that are wrongly connected as in a series mode etc making both operational when one is tripped.
I would disconnect the limits completely from the circuit.....unplug them from the circuit completely etc...... so that they cannot impact on the controller and see if there is a difference.
BTW.....my Skyfire SVM-0 mill has USB and runs on Win XP on a desktop computer with Mach3...…...XP is all you need to run Mach3.
