I use a slightly faster computer with 4Gb RAM to run LinuxCNC via a parallel port with no trouble.I would think you will be fine but suggest you don't run other applications while the computer is controlling the machine.It may be worth taking a look at some of the machines on youtube that are operating LinuxCNC with quite minimal computing power.A long time ago I ran a 5 axis router from a 450MHz Pentium 2 with 64Mb RAM (on OS2/Warp) so I don't think you will be making huge demands on the computing power as long as you generate the program before using the computer to take care of producing the parts.
