I have a massive press brake at work that is fine but is very slow and cumbersome for the small parts I tend to make. I would like to make a 600-1000mm wide press brake that can press 20-30 tons at 100ipm with 1000 ipm rapid travel. Switchover from high to low speed will happen at speed. This corresponds to a 4kw servo minimum.

The main question: I am looking into using two 5010 ballscrews with two ballnuts on each screw. The screws will most likely be in compression since that's easiest, but I could get custom machining to hold them in tension. At the deepest stroke an individual ballscrew would be expected to support 10-15 tons with 300mm of unsupported ballscrew. Does anyone have any idea if I'm even close to a viable project here?
