    Default R & P / Ball Screws

    My question is.....

I'm using all NEMA 34's. Can I use rack and pinion drive at a 3:1 ratio for my Y axis, and then use direct drive on ball screws for my X and Z axis???

Or do all the drives have to be the same drive ratio???

    Thanks in advance!!

You can use whatever ratios or drive system you like interchangeably for each axis

It's generally optimal to have the X and Y have similar speeds and forces, if not you will often be limited by the slower/weaker one. It doesn't hurt if one is faster or more powerful though.
Z generally can be a bit slower than the X and Y, but may need more force if you don't have some sort of counterbalance.
