Default How hard can I drive it?

Hi guys, I just got an 80w Chinese laser cutter with an efr tube.

Research seems to suggest to add an ammeter and make sure the tube doesn't go beyond 30mA
I have an ammeter but the installation process seems beyond me. Can anyone with the same tube or similar let me know what percentage corresponds to 30mA so I know not to exceed that

    Thanks guys

First off if the tube has a maximum rating of 30 ma i would set your controller to not exceed something like 25 ma. That last bit of power might not be worth shorting the life of your tube. This might have been all worked out if the PS matches the tube

There are two types of power meters. Ones needing a shunt and ones with the shunt built in. It connects to the negative side of the tube (where the beam exits) and measures the voltage across the shunt.
Or the meter is in series between the tube and negative side of the power supply.
