    Default LASER Cutter Issue

    Hi,

I have a CNC, a 3D printer and a lathe. I work in automation, so I should be able to understand your lingo, within reason....

what software do you get ? I read places where they mention Lasermate and some other Lasercut....Are we talking about the same product here ? Is this a software proprietary to Redsail or an independent product ? do you get a legit copy or a bootleg one ?

I saw that some of you were talking about a dongle....Will I get one or am I going to run in demo mode, with tons of restrictions ?

Anywhere I can download a demo version, to get familiar until I get my machine?

    Any idea?

    Please help.
    Thanks!

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

In this 1k to 3k price range laser cutter you normally find controllers designed for laser cutting and engraving. A cnc router or printer will vector cut but find it difficult to engrave. So custom controllers have custom software. You pay for the complete package. No need to steal anything because you can download it for free. All the software in this price range is similar. Different names but all work the same based on manuals I’ve seen.
Without the controller downloading software would have no use

Make sure to buy a laser machine that has a RuiDa controller and uses RDWorks. This requirement can keep you inside your target price range and also helps to ensure the rest of the laser isn’t the bottom level crap either.

Laser Cut is proprietary software used by the Leetro brand controllers.
Some Chinese manufacturers use it in their laser cutting and engraving machines.
As Ray mentioned, there are also controllers of the Ruida brand, which use the RDWork software.
At BuchiCNC we have experience with the two brands of controllers.
Leetro works well, but has fewer functions on the panel such as previewing on-screen designs and LaserCut software is much less friendly than RDWorks. As for the laser beam in my opinion, Leetro handle it better than Ruida.
In addition Laser cut uses a dongle and RDWorks does not. Lasercut installs additional drivers so that the dongle works and in practice it is quite uncomfortable to have a USB port used by the dongle.

If you want to download a trial version of each software to compare them you can do it from these links:

    RDWorks V8
