On the system 100 (4' x 8'), what is the diference in price between servo's and steppers. Whats the difference in speed ?
The upgrade to servo is $1000. On the servo system we use double cable chains to keep the encoder cables and power cables separated. We use size 34 servo's with 1000 line encoders (4000 cnt/turn quadrature).

The stepper can cut at about 300 in/min and the servo is about double that.
One big advantage of the servo would be in drilling because Z axis raise and drop is so fast, while a stepper is much slower lifting and dropping a router.

Cut quality is the same for stepper and servo cutting at the same speed.

There are limit switches on all axes as well.
