Spindle conversion
hi I have a Taiwanese copy of a Myford VMC (which came first, Myford or Warco? they look the same). I doing a CNC retrofit, most of which is done.
I am wondering how difficult it would be to mount a new modern spindle motor directly where the existing spindle pulley sits, above the Z. I have added a stepper motor/ pulley to the quill, at the front.
Has anyone done this?
Am I crazy to consider it?
Should I just use a VFD on the existing electric motor mount?
thank you
Tony
