Default Powermax 45 Fine Cut Consumables Question

    Jim (or anyone)
Are there fine cut kits available for the powermax 45 machine torch? I can't seem to find them on any of the sites that I have bought Hypertherm consumables from.
If s, do you have part numbers?

    thanks

There are no Finecut consumables for the Powermax45. For similar results use the T30 (30 amp consumables) parts as listed in the cut chart section of the Powermax45 operators manual.

Will you only be able to use those finecut consumables up to 30 A ?

As previously mentioned...there are no "FineCut" consumables for the Hypertherm Powermax45. Fine cut consumables are available for use with the Powermax65, 85 and 105 systems.

There are 30 amp non-shielded consumables that will produce similar results (as the FineCut), and have a maximum rated amperage of 30 amps. See the cut chart on my previous post. If you choose to operate these 30 amp rated consumables at an amperage higher than 30 amps....expect rapid nozzle orifice wear and deteriation of cut quality as a result.

Thanks for the reply Jim, have done a few test and will keep with the standard 45 A consumables.

What settings do you recommend for 14 gauge / 2mm mild steel with the std consumables keeping the speed below 150 ipm / 3810 mm/min ?

I would use the 45 amp shielded consumables for the 14 gauge, set amperage to 30 .....set pierce height to .1", set cut height to .06" (adjust arc voltage to maintain this height during steady state cut), set cut speed to about 130 ipm. This should be close.....though you may need to go a bit faster to eliminate heavy dross.....depending on the chemistry of the steel.

Thanks Jim, i used your settings last night and it does a very nice job just had to crank up the speed to around 157 ipm / 4000 mm/min to almost eliminate the dross.

Jim, I noticed these aren't book settings for 14 gauge using 45A consumables. Does cutting at a lower amp and slower speed lead to longer consumable life?
