    Default Hydraulic Motor

    Hi,

We have a hydraulic motor on an injection molding machine. It is a hydraulic driven motor, not a hydraulic pump.
The most has thrown off the rings that connect the pistons. There is damage to the rings but nothing else has the slightest mark on it.
We have been told that we need to buy a new motor at a cost of several thousand pounds.
Surely we can just get these rings made rather than buy a whole new motor?
Does anyone have any thoughts please?

    Hi,
you might try some of the automotive Engine reconditioners. Some of them will make rings to suit.

My understanding is that they are turned from white cast iron tubes. I further understand it is the 'barrel' grind
that is applied that determines its suitability as a compression ring.

Maybe you can have new rings made. Without knowing more about the motor it is difficult to say how to proceed. I'm surprised that there are no repair parts available for that motor.
