Default Intermittent motion control error messages

    Hello,

Wondering if anybody could shed some light on this fault

1996 hurco hawk 5m ultimax 3 (dual monitor) Software v1.64.

Machine had been sat, and had not been powered up for a couple of years.

Everything starts up fine, all axes move / calibrate, etc.

But I get Intermittent motion control error messages:

(internal motion ctrl error on axis x,y,z, code = 2)
    or sometimes
(motion ctrl queue brkpnt not detected on axis x,y,z.)

This happens when I turn on the spindle , use the warm up function or run G code.

The fault sometimes can happens within a couple of minutes of running, or machine can run fine for an hour or so before error message pop up and servos are shut down.

Any input would be very much appreciated.

...possible Low input voltage or god forbid to High....check transformer taps Line to Line. If, you're trying to use a Rotary phase converter can cause problems too.

I found out the issue is a failing hard drive so I have been trying to rebuild the system on a new drive. I have had someone help to clone the old drive to the new one but unfortunately the EPROM is reporting the drive as the incorrect size and I don't know how to resolve this to make it bootable.

They also scanned the original drive and found a faulty sector so the only other option was to format and repartition it. I have not been able to restore the software from the floppy disks or original backup. The system will boot with MS DOS 5 so I know the machine is working.

I wonder if anyone has experience on this and can provide some step by steps on how to recover the software in the event of a drive replacement or reinstall on the original drive.

I read from https://www.cnczone.com/forums/hurco/321894-hurco-bmc40-hard-drive-replace.html that "Hurco.ldr MUST be the first file loaded on the drive after formatting." but I'm unsure how to do this. Any guidance would be great!

    Many thanks for your help.
