'91 Hurco BMC 20 Axis S Encoder Fault

Hello all,
I have a '91 Hurco BMC 20 that decided to throw an "Axis S Encoder Fault" alarm on Monday. The machine will go through the power up/calibration process, but when I select "Warm Machine" it faults the spindle. Tuesday I came in and the machine went through the warm up process, spindle and all, but when I went to run a program the flood would not turn on. Turned off/on the machine and the "Axis S encoder Fault" came back up. Thanks in advance for any help. Dan
