Hold the tailstock retract button for 30 seconds once power is up. There is an interlock that will only reset after the software latch is latched by holding in the retract button, or commanding tail stock retract by "M" code.
Ok... So landed in my workshop two days ago is another machine.
This was meant to be an easy one, was running with the previous owner with no issues (according to the broker)
The lathe powers up fine, hydraulic pressure is correct & the slideway lube pumps so the phase is ok coming to the machine. (The slideway lube doesn’t stop pumping however, which makes me wonder if the parameters have been lost, the battery light is on)
This is the startup procedure I am using:-
Main power breaker on rear of machine on.
Black on button on T5 Control panel on
Press black Hyd/Lube Button
At this point the machine ready light comes on.
The turret indexes & there is hydraulic movement with the tailstock center & chuck.
However, I cannot get the X & Z axis to move at all, either jogging or with the handle. (I am not even 100% convinced the servos are firing up at all)
The machine lock is in the off position.
If I hold down the rapid button & use the Jog joystick, I can get an alarm (1 under SV on the CP) but nothing else.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks Jeffrey,
Sadly that had no response. Do you think that might be because the lube light has come back on?
Is there any way to check the timer for the lube pump? It's just not shutting off & has emptied another tank all over the bed :/
Thanks
Nick
does this machine have a Micon8 PC controller on the back of the machine? If so then the timer is done by settings in the Micon8. Please let me know if this is the case.

It doesn't... Just has the Fanuc 5t
Quick update.
It hasn't lost it's parameters! I found a white pouch inside the high power electrical box door, that contained two parameter lists...
One is hand filled and has Hitachi 4NE-600 S/N NE4655 written on the top of it.
The serial number of this machine here is NE4656 which is only one number away, so I am assuming they either had two machines with the same parameters next to each other or it's a typo.
The other was just a Generic 5T Parameter List.
The machine matched the handwritten list with everything except the backlash, Grid zero offset X & Grid zero offset Z.
Do we know what any of the other parameters mean? It would be cool to change the machine back to starting up in MM rather than inches if available as an option.
Ok... Onto the Lubricating Oil Delivery.
I have found out that the machine originally was controlled by two physical timers in the lower part of the high voltage enclosure.
TR-1 = Oil delivery time in seconds (default is 10 sec)
TR-2 = Oil delivery interval in minutes (default is 10 mins)
Unfortunately someone has modified this, here is schematic I found for the modification:-
Any idea why this would have been done?
I have 'fixed' this for now, I noticed that TR-1 has been changed to min timer not sec & was set to 15mins o.0... So I dialed it down to around 20 seconds & will fiddle more after get the X & Z moving & lubed.
Many thanks
Nick

Further update:-
I have the spindle working now through MDI & though manual control as long as I enter G97 M40 S50 (for example) before switching to manual.
The coolant now works through MDI as well.
I have held the tailstock retract button until I am blue in the face, but no joy :/
I cant get the X & Z to move no matter what...
Any ideas?
Thanks
Nick
Something else I have noticed:-
The position on the readout changes when I jog, handle or program axis moves with the MDI.
Just the axis themselves don't move :/
I found the fault.
The A20B-0004-0170 board was faulty. it should have been producing -15vdc on F9
The 24vdc & +15vdc were both fine & the supply voltages to that board were fine. Just the -15vdc had a fault.
I will replace the board & go from there.
Do you have the manual of the A20B-0004-0170 board? I need to check some connections. Thanks in advance.
