Default old haas DC brush encoder source?

My X axis encoder on a 94 vf2 seems to be acting up, no errors but it will lose/gain a few tenths upto 0.0015 just going back and forth. Cleaned brushes and motor, motor looks ok.

Original (not really motor was replaced in 2004) is a DataTorque 14414-654 which I cannot find anywhere.

From searching specs it looks like I need:
2000PPR, Differential, index pulse, 8mm shaft

Plenty under $50 on mouser/digikey that fit specs but all have plastic shaft bushings and flimsy looking mounts, not something I want to use on a mill even inside the motor can.

ebay seems full of close part numbers from Datatorque but nowhere to check their details.

Does anyone know of anywhere to get something reasonable for $200 or so?
    Thanks.
