I am getting this error only when the machine is first started up. I keep rehoming until it completes with no error then I run rapid at 50% for a few minutes. After this I can run at 100% for hours (28 hours this weekend) without issue. This doesn't sound like a cable problem. I do turn my heat off at night so it is sometimes in the low 50's in the morning.

Try cleaning the cable connections.
Two Haas VF-2's, Haas HA5C, Haas HRT-9, Hardinge CHNC 1, Bother HS-300 Wire EDM, BobCAD V23, BobCAD V28
REset all the cables and connections. All the way to the rear cab.
Here are some options for new encoders. Sub's houses are out there. I pulled a few recently. Contact them w/ your RENCO pn. they'll replace. under $200
We have pulled ours down to glass if you do want to try and clean but I do not recommend it.

Accu-coder : EPC PN: 260-N-B-14-H-2000-R-HV-1-S-SF-4-N (S – Denotes a special connector feature). This is a connector on a shortened cable. EPC is an 18” flying lead with no connector. (*put your own connector on.)
