They seem to rate power usage pretty high. Probably to be prepared for the heaviest loads. I have a 2015 VF2 with a digital 3PH convertor, and it runs fine on a 50 amp breaker.. It is an 8000 rpm machine, I cut aluminum most of the time and never really push the speed and feed even close to the limit so I never had any issues. 100 seems really high, but you may need that if you are going to push it to the max.
