Default Haas 2005 VF3 Spindle RPM Mismatch

I have haas mill VF3 model 2005. My problem is there is a spindle rpm mismatch with S command given in program. I came to know this while I was getting bored hole in rigid taping. I have checked all the parameters and encoder all is fine.

    1. Encoder PPR = 2000
    3. Encoder to spindle ratio = 1 : 4

    Now Parameters set in machine.

    1. Encoder Pulses Per/Rev = 8000 ( 2000ppr x 4 its quadrature encoder)
    2. Spindle Steps/Rev = 2000 (ratio is 4:1)

Now if I run the command M03 S50 Cycle start. The actual spindle spindle rpm is 100 and on screen it also shows 100.

But if tweek the spindle steps/rev to get the speed on screen = 50 even then the rpm on spindle is 100.

Is there any spindle tuning needed ??

Moreover machine does not allow me to change the spindle encoder PPR if I did that there is spindle fault. on 8000 its fine

Please help to sort out this problem.

    Thanks..........Manjeet

First, check to see if rigid tap is actually enabled. You know the "1" is there. A rigid tap cycle will look the same whether it is turned on or not, just won't synchronize.

What did you change for this condition to start in the first place?

Yes I have enabled rigid tapping bit=1

Moreover I am successfully doing rigid taping by half the speed command.

    S50 F80 for .8 pitch 5mm tap.

Only thing is spindle is running twice rpm than S commnd in gcode.

Your tapping speeds are way too slow, unless you are doing inconel or something like it. And again, when did this start?

I bought this used mill last month and this was my first tapping job. after getting some hole bored instead of thread my son started to find out the reason for this. He found the speed doesnt matches the command and then with tachometer he discovered the the spindle rpm is always x2 the S command given from the screen.

I did solved the rigid tapping problem by using the F (pitchx2) command. Its ok tapping fine.

But my question is how do I tune the spindle to get the rpm matched with ommandv ??
