For a REALLY custom look on your cabinets and furniture, try your hand at a carved handle or pull. The drawer/door handle (pull) is the one object everyone will touch and feel on your cabinets. If you want your cabinet to stand out, take a look at this video and watch as David Reilly walks you through the process of carving this leaf shaped pull.

Fine joinery requires tight fits and accurate cutting and more often than not, you are working in tolerances of a few thousandths of an inch. Many woodworkers get by on feel and intuition etc. However, for the rest of us, we use tools that help us measure to these accuracies. The dial (or digital) caliper is one such tool that not only measures, but is also a GREAT layout tool.?

This project started out as a request from a friend for a stand to display valuable books at the entrance to a home. Its design lends itself as a Lectern, Podium, Book Stand, and probably more. Even if you are not interested in making this, there are plenty of techniques that can be learned in this video. Take a break, and follow along as Chris walks you through the processes involved in this project.
