    Default IPM?

I am building a 4x4 cnc plasma table. I'll be cutting from 32 ga sheetmetal
    to 1/2" thick steel.

I've caculated I can do about 300 ipm with my current steppers and R&P.

Is that enough to get clean cuts?

    I am using a hypertherm 1250.

    Thanks,
    Mike

If you can run at 300 ipm with good accuracy...then that will be adequate speed for most plasma cutting applications. There are some that cut 24 and 26 ga. galvanized and regular steel at up to 450 ipm.....but you can use the FineCut consumables in your Hypertherm Powermax1250 and reduce the currrent to cut at lower speeds with excellent quality. Th majority of plasma cutting applications use speeds under 150 inches per minute.
