I just bought from Amazon Changzhou Longs-Motor 4 axis kit, with BOB and 4- DM542A drivers; no wiring instructions. I have seen really poor pictures of the wiring diagram and probably can figure that out, just not sure about the switches. A good wire diagram and switch detail would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Re: i just bought from amazon Changzhou Longs-Motor?
is your breakout board like this ?
are you using Mach3 ?
the BOB has 5 inputs
you can connect a normally closed E-stop switch between the input GND/ VSS and an input (eg pin 10)
what type of limit switches do you have ?
if you have two micro switches per axis
you can wire them all as normally closed switches in series
connected between the input GND / VSS and an input (eg pin11)
the advantage of using N/C switches instead of normally open switches in parallel
is N/C switches fails safe if a wire breaks
with N/O switches you will not know the wiring has a break and the limit switches will not work
this saves 3 of the 5 inputs for other uses such as a touch probe to gauge the tool length
with Mach3
one of the limit switches on each axis can double up as a home switch
Re: i just bought from amazon Changzhou Longs-Motor?
Yes my BOB looks like that. I don't use switches on any of the axis I found it to be a bother. I would use the touch probe to gauge tool length. I didn't see the VSS you are talking about, mine has VDD marking on the board. Is that the same? I'm using Mach 3. Do you know anything about the switches on the drivers? They are the DM 542A.
Thanks
