    Hello!

    To continue...
If you have an "alien" image rather than original one or you have only a set of files (not an image)
you could undertake the next steps.

    1. After formatting and partitioning as described below install DR-DOS 5.0 or DR-DOS 6.0 on the pure HDD.
To do so download the distributive packet of diskettes for installation.
Please do not confuse the bootable diskette and the installation diskette(s).
    2. Install or just copy the Norton Commander let's say on disc D or E.
    3. Copy files to root catalogue on disc C. These files have a little size so you may carry them over simply on diskettes.
    4. Copy CU91 folder to disc C. This folder is not great too and is also carriable on diskette(s).
    5. Try to substitute some files in root directory and/or CU91 folder totally.

Actually you should study the file structure on disc C as severe as possible.
The learning and the substitution of these files are key moments to achieve progress.

    Regards

    Hello!
Please do not worry about FAT.
Just boot DR-DOS from diskette and run the fdisk utility: a:\fdisk
And follow instructions the fdisk utility will prompt.

    HI Yks!

I did it just like you say, but got " checkinhg security device".

    i did like this:

    a:fdisk

it says: Partitions on 1st hard disc(503.5 Mb,1023 cylinders):
    Use cylinders 0 - 1022 ( for dos( 503.5Mb (Y/N):N
    starting cylinder :0
    end cylinder : 99
    total blocks: 251228 ( 49.1 Mb aprox)
    ....volume AGIE-C

and so on to the other partitions

It is not necessary to execute format command after restarting?

After fdisk hdd, open norton ghost to restore image and i can see that the c: image fat is FAT12 and the physical hdd c:\ is FAT16.
Can this be the reason for " checkinhg security device"?

When using winimage to recover hdd c: i get the error in the image attached. Anybody help?
( it says drive d: because it is attached to a windows computer, in fact is agie´s drive c

    Hi,tintin2005!

It is exactly as we did. You are on the right path.

Did you enter Agie BIOS to check/set the HDD settings?

We had seen the "Check security device" message at the next circumstances:

When we already had the repaired and fully working Agie WDM we wanted to replace our old HDD with more "modern" one. Just we noticed that the system was loaded much faster with the last one
We copied the prepared and proved image from old HDD to new HDD.
And at this moment we had seen the "Check security device" message.
So we were forced to do all HDD initialization procedure from the beginning for the 2nd HDD.

    Regards

We did not use the Norton Ghost to create an image.
Instead we used several programms for this among which the WinImage is the best choice on my oppinion.
Just the WinImage does not ask excessive questions

Actually the incompatibility problem is the most difficult problem here.
Something of Windows hardware/software works wrong with antic HDD.
On the other hand the i386 hardware in Agie along with DOS does not understand what is created by Windows. And so on.

    Hello, tintin2005!

    I know about loadsys.com ( or loadsys.exe, i don't remember exactly).
And the picture you have posted is very similar to what we had seen.
Try to delete loadsys.com file from disc C. Before doing this you should copy and store the original loadsys.com file, for example on discette: copy c:\loadsys.com a:\loadsys.com
Then the system will likely ask you to insert the "Final Config" discette. There is once more loadsys.com on the "Final Config" discette.
Do not insert the "Final Config" discette unless you will be promted on the screen.
Otherwise your BIOS settings will be reset to default state ( with default HDD)

    Regards

    Muss also noch einiges anpassen...

    Mr Steph,
I´m having the same problem with my agiecut 120. The system tries to start and lands in the c:\cu91\mod folder. Would you please provide me the link to download the HDD image?
    Thank you in advance.
