    Default Resistors

I am sure this has been covered but I missed it. Can a resistor be added to a motor that is rated at 4.2 amps to limit the current so that a 3 amp drive could be used?

4.2 amp stepper motor paired up with a chinese ebay TB6560 drive. Can the resistor be put in between the driver board and the motor?

    No.
Usually there is a current set resistor on the drive.

Just set the drive to 3A and you will be fine. If the drive is only delivering 3A then the motor will only be getting 3A.

I was afraid that the motor would try to pull 4 amp through a 3 amp chip. Thanks for the help.
