I'm looking to a servo press with force cca 10 kN. The price of complete presses are far above my budget, so I'm considering what's my options to build one. The frame of the press will not be a subject here, but only the main part of it - servo linear ball screw actuator.
I know the servo presses of similar power consist of a ball screw, gear pack, and of course a servo motor.
The question is: what's the math behind it? I think I seen somewhere that 10 kN servo presses use a 750 W AC servo drive. I would like to know which gear pack and ballscrew diameter would be good to go?

    I've seen some calculations here:

    https://mechextreme.blogspot.com/p/design-symbol.html

if gear reducer is used, depending of ratio it could use a smaller servo size and power.

some formulas and calculations more detailed here:

Some other links useful, maybe ?

The first thing you need to determine is the speed of the press while applying the 10kn force. That will tell you what size servo motor is needed. Then I think you need to know the frequency of cycles and the distance (travel) the force is applied.

So far, I like this ''wall' design ( not sure how it really calls ) better than the cylinder design (ball screw/ball spline combination).
let's call it the ''wall'' design is much easier to me to build.

But, I'm pretty confused about the ''fixed-free'' bearing style on this servo press design. As far as I know, ''fixed - fixed'' bearing system is much more rigid and allows faster movement.

    Anyone knows whats the catch?

    I need around 10mm/s (0,4”/s) speed.
Stroke is max 25 mm ( cca 1 inch).
    .
Which size servo do I need?
    Thank you
