Question Industrial CNC Upgrade or help?

    Hello,

I do design for the most part but I got put on a new project and I really need some help...
The owner got a machine from industrial cnc. It is a 6' x 12' table.

I have looked at all the mach 3 settings and everything looks good.
The problem I have is it does not talk to the computer. So if I tell it to go right it will go until it stops on the table but the computer still thinks it is moving.

I was wondering if upgrading the motors to something better would help?
I dont really know anybody around me that I can talk to and the company is not much help.
We have some 3d signs that the cut time is 20+ hours and it will get lost all the time.
Attached is the pictures of the machine.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks so much
    Matt

You got it from this company: CNC Routers | Industrial CNC Routers | Afforadable CNC Routers | Intergrated CNC Routers | Router Systems ? They say they provide free tech support if you bought it new from them - did you ask them about this issue? If so, what did they say? If it doesn't work, can you send it back? They seem to be in the USA someplace, although they don't say where...

But no, if it doesn't communicate, switching out the motors won't help. It sounds like it's doing something when you give it a command, just not what you want it to. Have you tried Motor Tuning in Mach3?

    Awerby,

    Thanks for the reply.
I have tried to call and talk to them but the customer service is well.... They don't have any. They send you running around the internet to order other parts.
I did try all the tuning in Mach3. I have been trying for about a month off and on when i get time and i'm at the point where i need some help.
We did order a UC100 so we could use USB and not the 25 pin plug.
The last call I asked them a question they told me to buy a smoothstepper.
The Table is about 4 years old. Not many hours on it because they didn't really have anybody to run it.
I am trying to help in my free time because i'm to nice and cant say no haha.

If you have the UC100 then you would not need the smooth stepper for that machine

Make sure also the UC-100, is the real thing if you brought in on Ebay it may not be the real UC-100, there have been some copies that don't work correctly

Are they really in the US, or are they forwarding calls to China?

    Guys!

    Thanks for all the help!
Sorry i had to go out of town a few days so things have been crazy.
We did not get the UC100 on ebay. we got it from http://cncdrive.com/UC100.html

So i did break down and email the company.....
This is the reply I got from them.

    Hi Matt,
Its most likely the computer going into a sleep mode or low power mode or an auto back up interfering. want to turn all that off on the computer. You also want to make sure your computer has a large video card (at least 512 mb if you're running large complex files like that). The USB adapters are weak, I wouldn't trust one to running a long complex 3D file. I recommend the soigeneris smooth steeper. They are ethernet connected and have their own power supply so put out a nice strong pulse stream. https://www.soigeneris.com/ssenc-2-e...stepper-system

Make sure to follow their download and install directions.

    ICNC Support
I have been playing with a few different things and i don't know if the motors are not tuned like they should be or my gcode is not correct.
I am using Rhino so save the 3D file and open it into Vectric Cut3D.

When I save the toolpath I am using the Mach2/3 (inch) .txt post.

Maybe these is what I am doing wrong? It is how the guy showed me when I watched him but maybe he was doing it wrong.

Would another program be better for these things?

I was looking at the different products from https://www.applied-motion.com/ because it looks like they have some nice drives.
But again I don't know if that is my problem...

I really hate getting on forums asking these questions but I am lost because so many people keep telling me different things.

I just wish I was around when he was looking at tables because i would have never got this thing.
My main company I work for has real machines and everything I machine I draw in NX 11 and send it over to them and everything is good to go.The down side to that is the cost of the software and machines we use.
Then again I am using custom post that was made for each machine and everything else was setup so I don't have to mess with the stuff I am going through now.

Again sorry for the long post.
I couldn't sleep last night so I came in to play with the laser thing morning

If anybody is crazy and would like to talk on the phone my cell is 803-873-4787. I can also send more pictures if needed.

Thanks again for all the help!
    Matt

Try another version of MACH 3, Version 2.63, on my opinion the 25 pin LPT1 port is the most rigid connection, you can purchase it online I guess I really like to send my file but Boss Ger21 will delete my comment if I share, better you purchase online sir
