    Default Looking for a Machinist

I tried to find a local machinist but I failed. I live in Chapel Hill-Durham NC and I need an experience machinist to install some linear guide rails to my G0704 Z column. I will ship the parts to you

Please see attachment for a quick guide and send PM with price.

    Thanks for the help!

I see one major problem with your specification and this may be why you can't find anyone local to do it, Job #1, item 3. You specify grinding that surface flat and true to the machined surfaces. While not impossible to do, it would require a huge surface grinder to be able to set the part for grinding. In my 50 years of being around machine shops, I have only seen one surface grinder large enough to do it. That surface should be milled flat in the same setup as the other work on the column, that would insure that the surfaces were true to each other.
