Laser information

Good morning,
I'm new in this forum.
I have a CNC 2018 with 500mW laser, hours I've got a 5W laser but I can not control it, it's always on.
The control board of the machine has the GRBL 0.9 software, can it be updated to GRBL 1.1?
I attach a new control card and laser photo.

You can update to 1.1f. If it is not working better you can always go back to the previous version:
Steps to take:
- Get the old and the new firmware
- Retrieve all the settings and print the out
- update the firmware (Settings will be lost)
- Set the settings back
