    Grumps,
The skill set you start with will determine how you learn this craft......

    This stuff is too easy.
Think of a flat shape Template............
Think of grid paper over it (kinda transparent) any resolution
Think of dots at sequential intersects close to the template lines.............
convert to numbers..... in a sequence,
It is just "connect the dots" like we all did on the Sunday morning newspaper cartoon section.

    Been doing this too long

When I read this I thought of 3d Printing with wood filament material (which is out there in may Mfr's and material compositions). for example:

if you elect to go beyond wood, they have dozens of other matierals you can make your parts from.

My Son and I have the Lulzbot 3D and it is very very easy. You can be outputting parts in a day.

Just a thought on a Sunday eve.

    Thank You!
Coming from an old man starting a new learning process the KISS principle usually is the best.
