Two weeks is up. Did I win the booby prize?

Two weeks is up. Did I win the booby prize?
Being outside the square !!!
Isfoils,
After all the sleepless nights and not eating I can't take it anymore! If I get any lighter they'll have to tie me to the ground! Would you please post the solution. This could be the most anticipated moment on CNC Zone ( not including the server upgrade of course).
Gunner
LOL! The 19th will be 2 weeks, I'll post it then and announce winners.
...Yenneb!
Well, Rekd mentioned it in his post but did not elaborate. And NOCARRIER had a solution that was just as good. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this. Originally, I was going to post an animation, but I just didn't have time. So, here is a screen shot of the last frame before assembly.
Yep, that is the way it is done, I knew it all along, I just did not want to ruin it for the rest of you.
Congrats Benny for figuring it out.
what ensures that the threads always line up perfectly?
does this assembly have to be assembled with a certain torque angle?
If so how do we calculate it?
???
??
?
NOCARRIER, (oops)
When I made mine, I cut the hexes first. Turned the major diameter to +.020", parted it. Turned the major diameter of the "attaching stud", threaded it. Took that part out and loaded up the cut-off, drilled and taped that for the "attaching stud". Treaded the "attaching stud" into the threaded hole and torqued it with a torque wrench. Don't remember how much it was then but I think the important thing is that it is torqued the same amount later. Then finish cut the major diameter. Lead "into" the thread was done by hand: I turned the chuck with a chuck key while the half nut was engaged and I fed the cross slide to "zero". Then I turned the machine on. I faded out the thread at the other end just like normal. Fading into the thread was probably the most challanging part! Good luck to you if you decide to make it. I have made them out of aluminum as key chain danglers, some day I'd like to make one out of wood.

Hi all, now there's a good little money spinner. Made out of 316 stainless and used as a body piercing item through the nose, or as ear rings, gonna make a fortune.
Ian.
i had to make this in school i loved showing it to people becuase they could never figure it out. you just take two pieces of stock. drill and tap one of them and turn threads on the other peice so it will screw together and then thread both peices for the nut
I just want one for my desk, how much?
