Time out for this forum

After we noticed in the recent months that this forum was almost only used for spam posts (95 %), we decided to shut it down for a while.

Good grief. So this is what I find, when after an absence of a couple of years, I come by to say Hi to anyone who has a long memory.
Still happy in Mississippi, in spite of all the craziness around.

I'm not sure that will work the way you want it to. When Craigslist shut down their Personals forum, the sex spam metastasized into every other forum on the site. If the spammers have been confining themselves to the Off-Topic forum, that's a good thing. Taking it away isn't going to make them stop spamming.

Being more specific helps lol , I look at the whole site as a forum . The site was pretty screwy for a couple days before hand so I thought it was all tied together

I have to agree , spammers aren't going to care which category they spam in

True, this is also one of my concerns. So, it´s a test with shutting down the offtopic forum. It really was annoying that almost every new thread here was considered as spam. Many new members thought probably, that it is allowed to post spam here in an offtopic forum.
Until now, there doesn´t seem to be much more spam here in other forums, so I don´t think that it was the worst decision to remove it from the main page (And as you can see, it´s still open to post here for "real" members of the comunity)
