    Default Bending Spring Steel

    Hello All,

I would like to bend some replacement spring tool fingers for my mills ATC, I need 3 replacements.
attached is a scale drawing of the spring and a picture.

I bought some 1075 Blue spring steel but it too hard to wrap around without breaking.

So my question is: do I want to use what I have and anneal and then re-harden the bends or buy anneal spring steel bend and then harden.

    Thanks,
    Bryan

You could do either one. By definition, spring steel will spring back instead of bending, so you need to bend it in an annealed state, then harden and temper it to blue.
