Short tutorial on tracing in Incskape



First you open Inkscape


Then you open "Trace Bitmap" under "Path"


Then hook of "Live Preview" and start to toggle with the different settings to se if it looks god.
Then you push OK and close the window. Delete the original picture and save the tracing to DXF.


Then you try different setings to find something that looks god.

Can someone create a dxf of the old school 1971-192 Dodge Demon logo. I have tried with no success using the software that I have available. Please see image below. I only need an outline of the black portion of the file not the white portion.

SHORT TUTORIAL FOR ANNY INTERESTED IN IT.

First you open your photo in Inkscape.


Then you trace it with "Path - Trace Bitmap" (Shift-Alt-B)
Try to toggle the different parameters to you get a good outline.


Then save it as "Desktop Cutting Plotter (AutoCAD DXF R14)



And there you have it.

I am trying to do some plaques for upcoming scout events and an alphabet would be awesome! Maybe comic Sans? Uppercase is fine. I am going to try to talk my boss into font conversion software but the first event is Jan 11th so I am short on time... and trying to trace with lines and arcs in autocad is painful!! Thanks in advance.

You can make it easy with Inkscape, wright the text you like and Export it to a png image.


Then you open in "Image To STL Converter" https://github.com/BloodBlight/ImageToSTLConverter and adjust the settings to liking.
Then you export it to stl.
