Does anyone happen to have a dxf file of a 1979 ford boss mustang, for cutting on laser?
Hello.
It is possible to get some designs googling for free patterns for hand quilting and embroidery.
I´m sure you´ll get some good ideas from them. The included picture shows a simple design.
In many cases you can get some form of file like SVG, DXF or others but it is possible to translate among them. It´s even possible to use programs like INKSCAPE to turn a JPG file into an SVG and then into a DXF file.
Regards.
Hello.
Given the appropriate distances a mill, an engraver or a laser cutter are just about the same thing as a quilter the only real difference being the tool.
I see no reason why a pattern done for a quilter cannot be done on any of the aforementioned machines. Of course some code translation may be required but since it is possible to translate almost all quilting codes into dxf format that should not be a big issue.
I think it´s worth looking at the following web page.

PS: in a laser engraver coloring can be changed for shading with a final result as watching a color image in a B/W monitor.
Hello.
This is just to give you an idea of the complexities of the conversion process. To avoid confusion I´m adding again the JPG file.
I suggest you try this one out just to check that your machine is compatible with the format.
While the conversion process from JPG to NGC is strightforward it takes quite some time as the conversion generates a miriad of small straight lines to do all the contouring. If fact that information is more of a NC nature than that of a CNC but is about the only way to do it, at least as far as I know.
I had to scale the original file to about 25% as the converted file was nearly 8 times this size.
I´d also expect the machining time to be rather long.
If your machne is compatible try getting an image similar to the one I added and post it. I´ll try to get the conversion for you.
Regards.
Sorry for delay, here is the fire pit I made with the Mustang
thanks for all the help
