    Default Cutting 3mm Acrylic

    Hi all,

    So I purchased a atomstack a5 pro 40w engraver

I have some mirrored 3mm acrylic sheet
    I am using LightGRBL
The mirror side is facing down and has a white platic sheet over the top
    The feed speed is 1000mm
The laser power is max (as far as I can tell)
Set focus by inserting a 2mm sheet between laser and sheet as per instructions.

    Load a small triangle raster

Start with 10 passes then 30 now I'm trying 100 passes!! the 10 and 30 didn't cut through it.

Is there anything jumping out that is wrong? is the laser seriously underpowered for this material?

    Thanks Steve

    Hi,

Is this a really stupid or really complicated question I'm asking? nobody seams to be answering.

One thing that jumps out at me is the poor quality of the documentation the manufacturer provides. While the English syntax is better than some, there is very little useful information other than how to assemble the machine.

Its a bad sign when reading a competitor's site provides better information than the manufacturer of the product you own. For instance, read about some issues cutting acrylic sheet at this Epilog page: https://www.epiloglaser.com/how-it-w...tting-acrylic/

That is for this product, which has a 30 (or 40) laser tube wattage:
    https://www.epiloglaser.com/laser-ma...tter-engraver/

It seems that the machine you purchased has "Laser output optical power 5-5.5W".
