Default Y axis Stepper motor not turning

    Hi all. My first post.

I have an issue with my 80 w engraver. Been working great for 12 months but now a issue has come out of nowhere.

The Y axis motor is making a vibrating sound on start up and not turning properly. It also cant go to origin and if you do try to engrave it seems to only go in one direction.

I swapped the Y and X driver boxes around but no change. So I guess they are good.

I removed all the belts to see if all the pulley bearings are turning and its definitely the motor that acts out. It does the same without a load on it.

So what can I do from here to pin point the issue before I spend money ??

Stepper motors that only go in one direction usually have a wire loose somewhere. This would also account for some of the other symptoms you're noticing. Remake all the connections to the motor and see if things improve.

thanks for that. I did that and no luck. The motor feels tight and does this stutter motion on start up. Strongly feeling its the motor because I switched the Y and X plugs on the main box with the same result

found the problem.... I opened the motor up and lo and behold, a washer came loose and got stuck in the motor... but now my whole system is out of sync haha. Next issue to resolve
