Default Does a beam combiner make you loose power?

Hello there guys, I have never had a beam combiner, since I was only required to realign the machine upon replacing the mirrors or the tube in the past. It can be a little tedious to get a perfect 90 degree angle since the positioning of the tube is crucial, specially on machines with a bigger work area.

I had to spend an undesired amount of time aligning the tube on my first replacement, due to the manufacturer sending me the wrong size tube. They sent me one that was Much thicker, and I had to improvise the height of the mirrors. The process is straight forward, but it just took about an hour to get the tube to give me a 90 degree angle beam.

I started with the X and Y at 0,0 (top left) then I maxed out Y to the bottom, and left X at 0. I was getting a hard time making the beam hit the same exact spot at 0,0 and 0,max. I believe maybe if I had a laser combiner, it would have made my life a little easier. Any feedback?

Also, I heard the beam combiner will absorb some power making the end of the beam slightly weaker, is that true?

    Thanks again guys!

    Thanks !

Anything you put in the optical path will absorb some laser power. Some quick Googling came up with 98% transmission for the 10.6 um CO2 laser beam.
