Default Testing New DIY laser cutter - Need advice

    Hey all,

Got my laser cutter build going. Im using an 80w power supply and a 40w tube to begin with for testing etc.
I previously asked about running the 80w power supply and 40w tube and was told to keep the power under 20ma.

At 20ma its around 30% power on my laser controller.

What would you expect i could cut with this power?

Im trying to cut 3mm mdf as a test and i can draw nice pictures, but it wont cut it.
    I've seen K40 machines cutting 6mm mdf. I can only mark 3mm.

    Any ideas?

check focus, beam alignment, beam clipping, etc. Acrylic is nice for testing focus and cut depth. Watch the videos on youtube from SarbarMultimedia. You learn much and can ask better focused questions after learning from these videos.
