    Default Photographic Image Engraving.

I am really not quite sure why anyone would want to laser engrave a photographic image onto a piece of wood in the first place but, trust me, once bitten it does become addictive.
Just a couple of 8 bit images I have recently laser engraved on Birch (at least I think it is Birch).

This image has been 'dithered' (reduced to 1 bit) then etched into a white painted wooden surface.

The 8 bit images were not pre-prepared in any way, they were used just as they were downloaded from the net. However, those particular images were chosen for having a good level of contrast and no background.

The original for the dithered image was reduced to 1 bit at 200 d.p.i before reproduction.
